El Obraje - Gesha

Very rarely do I come across a stunner, but it does happen. This coffee instantly made me realize why I am so invested in specialty coffee. When I tried this coffee back in August, I immediately contacted the exporter for some green. This Gesha has notes of Strawberry, Granadilla, and a Jasmine florality, with a fresh Pomelo sweetness, followed by a thick, coating Sago mouthfeel and a phosphoric acidity. As you all know, creating lasting, healthy relationships with farms and exporters plays a huge part in providing value within specialty coffee. Over the past month, I have created a close connection with Camilo from Procaal Coffee, an exporter based in Nariño, Colombia, and I hope to see our relationship grow in the upcoming years. El Obraje has placed twice in the renowned COE, placing first in 2021, with a Washed Gesha scoring 90.61 points. El Obraje has set a standard in terroir, in a country mainly dominated by heavily processed coffees. Located in Nariño, Colombia, El Obraje is one of the highest farms, with this specific lot being grown at 2200 MASL. With that altitude, expect subtle yet elegant flavours and an incredible expression of their terroir. I hope this coffee evokes strong emotions for you as well.
